What is Kidznotes?

Kidznotes is a music-for-social change program in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina. As a model of El Sistema, the international phenomenon from Venezuela of classical music for social change, we believe that the highest quality instruction should be available to the most underserved students. Through Kidznotes, children perform and learn on full scholarships in after-school and weekend instrumental classes, ensemble performances, and a free three-week summer camp. The students participating in this free program attend Title I schools where 60-90% of the student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch and live in neighborhoods with average families’ household incomes at or below $25,000 per year. Kidznotes transforms the lives of underserved children through classical, orchestral music.
